I only bought my horse a rug a month go and already I'm looking for another. I got her and my other horse really nice shires full neck rugs.... My horses firts her perfectly but my ponies rubbed her mane so I need to getanother for her instead.

Any reccomendations. I need a full neck turnout rug, between 300g and 400g. Seeing I have already spent a fortune I would like to stick to a max of £70 - £80.

Ideas? not shires.

Any combo rug is likely to rub his mane in my experience! I would personally get a seperate rug and neck cover, otherwise you will be in same situation again.

I do not have one but PG does, the PREMIER EQUINE INTERNATIONAL full neck heavy turnout- 99 pounds so a little over your budget but from what i have heard, it is def worth it. I have rambos but i think more money than you are wanting to spend but check ebay.

i have a shires combo for my TB, and its not rubbing her mane. I had a masta rug with a seperate neck, which i had trouble with, as it kept folding back where the rug and the neck meet, so she was getting a wet neck

Often rugs cause a little mane damage and its a difficult one. Some horses withers are a little higher, making the rug sit more on the base of the mane. I would stich some sheepskin padding into the rug to protect that area, if you feel it fits well otherwise.

You may find the same problem with other rugs, shires is a well made and designed rug. I use rambo's and on one of my horses we suffer a little mane loss each winter.

I think regarding main rubbing, it can depend on the confirmation of your horses neck! Do others agree, im not saying that the cut of some rugs dont help the situation.

It's the stormbreaker combo that I have at the moment.

At the moment it's a toss up between the premier equine one for £90 or a weatherbeeta for £80, both expenzive but she needs one!

I have a Rambo heavyweight with detachable neck, and as the rug comes up over his withers it takes the pressure of the withers. It does not rub at all, is extremely warm(400g)and very tough, has never let a drop in even in the stormiest weather. I bought mine second hand for £80, best buy ever!!
