My horses saddle drops a bit too low in front when he's been out of work or sometimes over winter. He's 16 and has high withers and a little muscle wastage being in semi retirement.
I don't want to buy a new saddle as it's not a constant problem.
After something fairly light and that sits nicely without slipping.
Thanks

The Acavallo gel front riser is the best I've found, and I've tried a few (prolite wither pad, prolite tri pad, le mieux, aerborn aero lite with Korrector). But if you'd like to try any of the above they are available...!

Try a cheaper trick my trainer has used for me. Saddle has dropped at the front and my saddler is not out till next week. Take a couple of hand towels, fold them over and place over the wither. Saddle should look higher at the front as the towels will squash down. Excellent and no cost short cut which has bailed me out!

This is the exact question I was going to ask! I am currently using a gel front riser pad, but I'd like to find something that's made from memory foam, like this -

- but just for the front. Do such things exist? I tried a full memory foam pad for a couple of rides, but the back end messed up the saddle fit, so it is of no use to me; however, I'm not entirely sure if a gel pad is the best option for a horses' back.

I really liked the design of the acavallo riser as it's tapered at the edges. However it was too thick for my horse.

I've made my own using Mattes felt shims and home-made velcro on pockets that stick to my numnah :p. Totally adjustable :D

Ditto Acavallo - brilliant and never move - I have this issue too with our oldie and have bought a air release gel pad with a slight rise to the front on the advice of my vet. Prolite do a front riser or wither pad only as well.
