Recommend me a large ( possibly high wither) saddle pad.

Is anyone able to recommend me a large saddle pad (jump cut preferably as it is to go under a Albion K2 jump)? I am finding that the saddle pads I have don't sit far enough back beyond the back of the saddle. I have WoofWear and LeMieux pads currently. The saddle is only 17.5" so I am not sure why I am having issues. The horse is high withered, I wonder if this is contributing to the problem and a high wither saddlepad would help. I am struggling to find high withered jump cut pads without padding etc. Thanks.

I always like Mattes, theirs was certainly long enough for my Ideal Grandee 17.5”. I can measure the spine length if you like - I’m just about to list it on eBay.

Mattes, L and XL. M fits some 17.5! Measurements on the site but subtract 2" for any sheepskin trims, unfortunately the base is always the same size ie the cotton pad, so adding trims makes it smaller as the saddle should never sit on the trims.

Thanks for all your tips. For anyone who is interested, I have been digging around on suppliers websites and it seems Mattes, PE and Hy are all a decent length.

Fwiw I won a Mattes basic saddle pad about 20 years ago and until my horse retired about four years ago it was in constant use, often washed, kept it’s shape beautifully, faded a bit(was black). I would still use it now if I had a horse.

They are amazing quality, and ethical compared to a certain popular brand! Also many people don't realise they are 100% custom so you can select body fabric/colour, binding, any sheepskin, piping and even velcro and top tape. The selection of colours available is vast and most people are a bit overwhelmed when I dig the samples only for them! They (I think fairly recently) introduced being able to select girth strap or d ring velcro too.

I really rate them too!

I always used the sadly no longer available, Morpheus half sheepskin GP or dressage numnahs, I have one which i bought at Badminton in 2008 that is still going strong!
My saddles are 18" so L would easily fit them. They do come up on Facebook Marketplace /Ebay occasionally and if I see I buy (I have 4 now as I love them so much).Particularly like the moleskin type fabric the pads are made from as they never rub, wash well and would to the saddle.

I bought an Hy Synergy pad in the end, as I wanted something with a bit of padding as the horse is relatively fresh out of racing. I am extremely pleased with it. It comes up plenty long enough, sits really nicely and doesn't move at all. It wasn't even particularly expensive.

Kieffer make an excellent high wither pad, in dressage and jumping styles, shaped like the Nuumed but I think maybe cheaper? Have had the white and the navy blue. Good quality.

Another Griffin Nuumed fan here. I like that you can select the colours of the pad and the binding, and the XL hi-wither fits perfectly. The LeMieux ones rub and are a tiny bit too short.
