I'm looking for a nice lightweight (with up to 180 gram fill) to stick on at night. I'd like it to have a neck and even though Basil is a tb x he has humungous shoulders so not all rugs fit him. His medium and heavyweights are jumpers horse line and Fal Pro.

Anyone got any suggestions? The only one I can find is the Mark Todd Autumner but don't know anyone who's got one to say if they're any good.

Thanks!

Amigo - saw a nice one MW with a neck at Bleheim at the weekend. Really good value. I have amigo LW for all ours and so far they have fitted a chunky connie x arab veteran, a well built TB, and a TB x QH 2yo plus my friends welsh C and her QH x corilio (sp)! Seems they fit most shapes!

Sounds like they're versatile then! Thanks, will have a look.

I have Saxon 600's on both my chunky cobs - they fit ok round the shoulders and have lasted 3 years so far (although I am in Spain so obviously they don't get used as they might in UK!!)

The Amigos are good, but are not too generous on the neck and chest - but I do have chunky horses. I have found that the Shires are generous if you have a horse with a big neck and chest. These rugs fit my gypsy cob and OH's clydesdales the best and are also fairly deep on the body. Only thing that is not good is the leg straps - they need to be longer so I take them off and then just use one as a fillet strap which does the trick.

I have just bought the Amigo with neck from Mole Valley Farmers at a great price in the sale and am very pleased with it.
But mine is a slight TB so not sure on chunkier fit :)

Amigos are fab. The MT are also very good and highly recommended.

My Shire x TB fits well in Amigos, Rambo & Rhinos and my Chunky Clydesdale x cob looks fab in a Mark Todd.

I find the Mark Todd's fit well around the chest for the chunky (deep) horses but the Rambo's & Rhinos are good on length but on a deep horse they can look a bit like mini skirts!!!

Good thing about the MT's is you can adjust the chest buckles where as the Amigos are fixed.

I don't think I've helped much!!! :D

Thank you for all the replies, I am very confuddled now!!! Think the best thing to do is go to all the individual sites, find the rug I want and then search for the best price. The MT Autumner is £56 from equestrianclearance, so will see if anything beats that. If not I think I'll give that one a whirl.

I think he needs the shoulder gussets and adjustable straps on the front. ** insert smilie face here **

Where are the smilies?!

This is the Amigo rainsheet on my chunky cob to give you an idea

Ah, he is sooo gorgeous! I remembered I have an Amigo summer sheet so tried it on him tonight, but it is too small in the chest area (which is prob why I forgot I had it)! I suppose I could go up a size, but do like the look of the Weatherbeeta Landa freestyle combo. Ho hum - decisions decisions....!
