hi all

i have to do a LOT of outdoor work this winter, and cos of the nature of the work, i need to have good arm movement... so i have thought about finding a decent, warm, fitted top and having my snuggly gilet over the top.

can anyone recommend a top:

long sleeved (that actually reaches my gloves, not my watch)
good length that doesn't ride up as i am quite busty and don't want my belly button to pop out
warm
not bulky
fitted but not skin tight

not too expensive pleeeease, as am broketastic at the moment... :)

c'mon guys... wow me with your ideas! :D

Head down to a walking shop and try on some microfleeces - very cuddly, warm, lightweight and not necessarily too expensive. I have a Craghoppers one, cost about £15 in a sale? :)

go to cheap shop we have Boyes and invest in a couple of cheap long sleeved thermal vests you can get them for about £4 i think and just where under teeshirt if you get black ones the sleeves dont get manky as quick

I find mens (small) sizes are better as the arms are longer. I got some really warm fleeces from tesco last week. Cheap and warm, and look OK actually!

I find womens tops are always too short in the arms

I bought a really lovely lightweight Woof Wear fleece, ticks all the boxes on your wish list. Don't know how much they are full price as I was lucky to get mine in a sale for £20. But it's a great fleece, would recommend.

Women's Under Armour, ColdGear Subzero Mock. I simply cannot recommend this highly enough! The warmest, lightest, quickest-drying, most best buy ever :) £35 each but completely worth it! I love mine and wear one less layer now it's that warm! I got mine from Tony Price Sports, or google it! :D

I wear a smelly helly. *cough* helly hansen base layer its brilliant stick a t-shirt ontop if its nippy. Only does begin to smell if you try to get away with the wear with out washing thing . Had one of mine four years goes under shirts hunting, rugby training, walking. they dry quickly, not as quick as under armour but you can wear them from the washing machine if your hard core for the first half hour.

If very skint long sleeve tops from primark are good but dont dry quickly but at two pounds if you can swallow your pride :D:D:D:D they do a job.

Berghaus baselayers are brilliant - but I do agree that the mens are longer in the arms. They are amazing and I practially live in mine through the winter.

One of the girls from the yard got a complete set of merino thermals for hunting, from Aldi! Apparently she got long johns and long sleeved top for about £25! If you buy icebreaker kit, you're looking at about £65 for the top alone.

Have found brilliant technical clothing in TKMaxx as well - if you can be bothered to rummage for it!
