for lunging so don't worry. I won't be abusing them!

Don't want to break the bank but would like them to be reasonably soft and last more than a couple of months please.
 
I have a set of Airborne ones, they are getting on a bit now, but still nice and soft, easy to hold and lightweight.

PS - when I saw the thread title, I had to ask: do you fancy a fight or something? :D
 
My advice would be to spend your money on a good leather pair, anything with rope is a nightmare to keep clean and wont last as long:)
 
No I deffo do not want a fight! I have Airborne lunge lines which I like, didn't realise they did draw reins

What size have you got JB? BH is so enormously long that my cob ones (or short ones or whatever they are, I deliberately bought them on the short side for a different horse) are a bit on the small side! I swear he's more like a canoe than horse! How is your horse hunt going btw?
 
If you only want it for lunging then how about getting the "Kavalcade" lunging system, it is exactly like the draw reins for lunging and is good quality. :)
 
I got cheap pair off eBay for lunging. Standing up to it pretty well, I've used the Kavalcade thing & I wouldn't waste the money on one as the draw reins are just as effective.
 
a decent saddler will stitch 3 pairs of plain reins together and attech a pair of clips on the ends for a few pounds ( and most people have some plain reins kicking around)
 
I don't have any plain reins. Only horrible rubber ones as that seems to be the standard type put on to bridles now. I'd rather they came with no reins than rubber reins (personal choice, not dissing them per se!) as I just end up with piles and pile of them which I never use and can't even be sewn together!

Its not a silly question - lunging in draw reins is dangerous IMO. A horse having a hooly can easily get its front leg over them and major panic. Only way I learned this is that it happened to me......

How do you attach them? I know how they are attached if used with a rider but I cannot see how they work without a person holding them!
 
i have a lovely pair of leather ones that i payed £11 at my local feed merchant, they are now about 3 years old but i think they were shires not sure though :)

Crikey it was about 25 years ago (the folleys of youth) from memory they went through the (secured) stirrups. LOL perhaps that's where I went wrong! If I'm honest I haven't lunged much since but did invest in a bungee but too much OCD to use it.
