Open to suggestions, but I think I’m after a sheepskin/wool numnah with a bit of shock absorption. For jumping/hunting/xc etc. for a sensitive horse.
I like the nuhmed half wool ones with shimming options, but wondering if there’s a better alternative?
Doesn’t have to be sheepskin, could be non-fluffy. Equitech keep coming up in searches but v expensive….
Maybe Mattes?

Nuumed are really very good. The Le mieux ones are good too although I found the full sheepskin too difficult to fit the contours of the saddle. I also have a lemieux shimmable half pad and would say its really good too.

If your budget is quite extensive look at the Equitex pads - they are as good as they claim they are. Wouldn’t jump my horse in anything else

Mattes, although I do have a load of other sheepskin pads and all good. But Mattes are my preference for quality etc. And then you discover how much you can personalise them ?

For shock absorption Invictus are the best (and barely affect the saddle fit), sheepskin is the best all round pad, and Mattes are the best sheepskin pads and yes, they can be ordered in probably millions of combinations of quilt, sheepskin, binding and piping, in all the shapes and sizes, and you can also have a shim system put into any of them. Wool, such as in all Nuumed, has lost all its structural integrity - not a bad product though watch for the rear of the pad collecting hard and lumpy horse hair in it over time, but not the same as sheepskin at all.

My customers have had mixed results with the Equitex and they can change the fit, same as any thick pad.

I love the Equitex but you must have the saddle fitted with one as they’re very thick.
If you don’t want to have your saddle altered to allow for the thicker pad, the Invictus pads are thinner and have excellent shock absorption.

I’m going to Google invictus now and I know there’s a strong possibility this is going to cost me money ?
