Recommend me a riding hat

Have recently joined a local RC and have booked into a mini XC lesson in 2 weeks time.

Times seem to have changed somewhat from when I last a) had a lesson and b) what type of equipment you must have

I need a 'non fixed peak' helmet. Currently have a vented Champion but it has a fixed peak so a shopping I must go.

What can you recommend that isn't going to blow the meagre budget that I have? (ideally under £80 if that is at all possible).

I have a Charles owen Jr skull cap. think it was about £60 and it's quite comfy

Had googled the J3 and looks promising. Tack Direct have an offer on at the moment but delivery is looking 2 - 4 weeks

The other one I have seen is the Charles Owen Pro II. Again, Derby House are doing a good price at £80.

Are the CO hats true to size? Always worried about buying on-line as can't try it for fit first.

If its the Champion Ventair you can buy a non-peaked version - I'd stick with what you know fits if you can. I have a very oval shaped head and the Ventair fits me, some CO hats do, some don't, no idea about skulls as I only have a SJXP. True to size is only relevant if they are the right shape for your head, if something is too round for me then the smaller size will hurt my forehead and the larger size would be so big as to be loose.
