Hi all,

I have got a IDxTB who last year spent most of the time in due to the cold weather, but he has now been out for 2 weeks :D no mucking out for first time in 18months!!:D

I need a waterproof no fill sheet for as it warms up, he doesnt 'do' rain! I dont want a really expensive one as if its really hot he will be naked. But he needs something to stop the wind or rain getting in.

Any suggestions (he wears 6'6)

Thanks Hx

Amigo 600 lite , my id x is a mud magnet and i find this one is easily hosed off and dries really quickly. It's a fairly cheap rug which is great for me as i can see my boy trashing it eventually - nothing to do with the quality - he's just a thug! Also it comes up the neck nicely and doesn't slip down on the shoulders..

I have a few LW rugs and this is what I found:

*Amigo 600d. Showerproof rather than waterproof but a very good fit.

*Amigo 1200d. Waterproof and also a good fit, I would buy one again as it lasted three years. :)

*Rhino. Fantastic, waterproof in torrential rain and has lasted really well. Good fit and I would buy again as it is worth the extra pennies as it is still going strong (still looks new) after three years and it will probably last a few more years.

*Bucas sunshower. Hopeless. Not even showerproof.

*Bucas smartex rain. fantastic rug, tough, waterproof and you can put it on a wet/damp horse with no worries. It is a slightly warmer LW due to the stay-dry lining. I would buy again but only in the sale! ;) Looks fantastic and is still waterproof at five years old.

*Shires summer stormbreaker. Good fit on a bigger shouldered horse. Has been very waterproof for a lower denier rug (I think that it's a 600d) but it is starting to be worn out after two years (not as waterproof as it was, some fraying).

My horses are all lightweights and they fit the horseware rugs brilliantly but it is worth noting that I have found that you need a size bigger than normal (eg my mare has a 6ft Bucas and a 6ft3 Amigo).

As mentioned

weatherbeeta lightweights are good and only 600d so horses dont get too hot.

Amigo 600d = showerproof but lightweight

Amigo 1200d = waterproof and robust and I have all 3!

Thanks guys:D i shall be spending my evening rug hunting online i think for a bargain!! I do like the amigos but had heard they can come up small so will defo go for bigger size if go one of those.
Thanks for the sunshower tip...i was tempted but not now!
