Recommend me a rug waterproofer

Last night I sprayed my l/w t/o rug with Nikwax waterproofer. It stood up to the rain fairly well today and even at the end of the day the water on her back was still beading but she had a wet bum.
I guess I need something more heavy duty to waterproof the back end of the rug.
Any suggestions?
Or do I accept that nothing will keep the rain we're having at the moment out?
