I'm thinking about getting a black leather GP saddle but would like recommendations. Must have decent knee rolls and suitable for a high withered, narrow Tb type.

I currently use a thorowgood griffin which I bought on a budget but has done well, I'd just like an upgrade as I hope to do more next year and don't feel totally secure in it.

So, what do you recommend me looking at?

I've got the Thorowgood t4 changeable gullet high wither saddle, I love it & you can change the width as the horse changes shape. If u want more of a leather saddle, they do a t8.

Find a saddler with a good stock of older English saddles as these often suit TB shapes and you may find a bargain. I would recommend Harriet Havers near Newark but you may have a similar "old school" saddler local to you.

Having had a T6 for my last TBx who changed shape quite a bit during the year I can't recommend them enough. I also have a T6 cob saddle that I have had for about 6 years and it's still looking fab and the T8's are just lovely as well, I had a cob version in brown for my little cob mare and you wouldn't know it wasn't full leather, the seat and knee rolls were of course. Full leather version of these saddles is Kent and Masters but I didn't see much difference for nearly twice the price :)

I got high withered Kent and masters for sasha, she was hard to fit as she is high and narrow, but saddler put narrow/medium gullet in and it's smashing.comes in brown and black. The leather is nice and supple.

We've got the same for our mare, she's also high withered and a skinny minnie

I bought shires changeable gullett and its great fit brand new they are around £400 although mine was bargain at £200 of ebay. My fitter was so impressed hes going to stock them.I thought it would only last whilst he was changing shape but think its a keeper and very comfy.
