Hi all,

Never clipped my horse b4 (friend usually does it) My horse is a warmblood so not a 'hairy' coat as such. Im looking for a set of clippers which dont cost a fortune but do the job well. I would also like to use them to trim ears/whiskers/fetlocks etc. Im interested in buying from ebay but just dont have a clue which ones are decent?! help! :D

I have Wolseley swift clippers. Have had them 6 years and they have been fab! Not sure you would get into ears etc, I just use normal hair cutting clippers for that ( normal as in non equine human ones!) :)

edited to add not sure how much they cost these days either... sorry Ive not been much help at all :/

my friend and i bought a set of liveryman harmony clippers together a few years ago. they are great!

realy light and easy to handle, low vibration, and very very quiet. two speeds, and comes with a battery pack as well as mains. dont get too hot too quickly either.

realy happy with the quality of them, and the fact that they are light and comfey to use.... you dont end up with a jangling numb arm half way through a clip! :D

not too expensive either. ;)

x

Moser Avalon clippers are pretty good. Have had mine about 6 years now and they're still going strong. Also like the clip on blades as don't have to mess around with tensioning.

Most of the clippers mentioned so far are good clippers but costing between £200 & £300 which may well be too expensive for you.

There have been several posts about 'budget' clippers in recent weeks on this forum. There seems to have been good reviews on the clippers on this link & the replacement blades are a fraction of the cost of many as well.
