Ok i HATE cleaning tack but i also love my leather being clean and supple, so im wondering what everyone else uses for the lazy horse owner to turn their tack into beautiful shiny supple leather? :D

mine is cleaned after every use which helps to keep it supple, i always use Belvoirs glycerine soap and Belvoirs leather Balsam. mind you, there are so many cleansers out there now i imagine you will have many suggestions!

are you lazy as well ashleigh_ ;)??? i currently use the Horsemans Onestep but i don't think that it gets the leather as supply as i would like.

You could try NAF leather food- it's really good for making saddles and bridles super soft and shiny- I use it all the time on mine!

You could say that! :p :p :D :D

I think i've got the same problem as you, i could clean my tack for hours but its still not very supply and bendy. I bought these stirrup leathers from Derby house (bad news from the start) but they were on sale and i just thought why not but they are the hardest most unconditioned ones i have ever seen! :o

I know what you mean, i spend thousands on the tack and want to keep it nice, but i need a 2 in 1 product due to my severe laziness affliction ;) :D

I use Horsemans one step, and Neatsfoot oil from time to time - just to add a bit of suppleness;)
another one for us lazy so an sos is NAF Quick Clean:D does what it says on the tin!

I use Effax leather balsam, about once every 3 weeks or so! It seems to make the leather a bit dirt repellent esp if you dunk your bridle & bit in a bucket of water after use. (makes it waterproof too :))

another vote for the effax!

but even better if you can find it is the Amerigo leather care kit. The solid bit is just like effax but lasts longer as its not as soft.

they're both dirt repellant tho! which makes washing off muddy leather girths sooo much easier!

Stubben glycerine saddle soap, makes the leather really supple if given a quick once over after riding. Would swear by this stuff it is fabulous! :)

Oakwood leather conditioner. I got a tub of it from Olympia about 8 years ago and it's still going. A little goes a very long way, and although I have to admit to being less then conscientious when it comes to tack cleaning, whacking this stuff on every now and then has left my tack ridiculously supple and shiny. It's even worked a treat on cheap indian leather.
