Anyways I need something to tow 2 polo ponies and ifor (so 2-2.5tonnes), Ideally something relatively cheap to run - 28-30mpg if possible - only ran as a second car for short trips and towing.
Only used for the odd bit of off roading if I have to deliver hay or at competitions.
I dont want to spend a fortune, we like the giant build of a pajero, so i know i will look at shoguns and discos, maybe the terranos but what else do people recommend?
We will buy an older 4x4 - so 10 years or so - and budget maybe 5-6k.
ideally engine 2.5 or 2.7 as insurance will be really expensive for us. I'm guessing i can't get away with a 2.2 and tow that weight??
