Recommend me a yard broom that won't break please.....

I have a gorilla broom and its great for big areas but not so good for corners of stables so I use a dustpan and brush. However the handles of gorillas are a weak point but if one broke within a few weeks I would contact the manufacturers , send some pictures and cope of the receipt and request they send me a new handle. Aldi had some nice ones in the other week with slightly softer bristles than the gorilla and they were about £7.

Try and find an old fashioned hardware store. Best tip I got from the guy who runs our local one is to look for a wooden broom where the handle has been drilled through the broom head so it sticks out through into the bristles ( if you get my drift). That means that it is so much less likely to snap when you use it.

I thought a broom was a broom was a broom - then tried the Gorilla broom, and loved it! I had the p ripped out of me for getting so excited over a broom, but it appears I am not on my own! ;)

Two of us have a gorilla broom on the yard. All the other liveries keep using them. I can't moan as wheel barrow less at the moment so am using other peoples.

We have a drain ridge in the middle of the hard and nothing clears it of all the muck, silt and leaves as my broom does.

Ok, so it seems there are mixed reviews on the gorilla broom - but this one seems good - a whole 24" of sweeping power! :)

Thanks everyone, I didn't realise this would be such a popular topic, but these things are important. :) x

The great thing about this broom is the handle lasts forever so only need a new head once you're worn it away but should take quite a few years

Thank you for the link. I got one of these from Costco of all places several years ago and worn the thing away as couldn't find a replacement. They are fab!

If you've still got the handle just order a new head. They used to sell these brooms all over the place Costco B&Q etc 10 years or so ago but now they have to be imported from the United States.

I didn't rate the gorilla broom much and even less they day my husband snapped it in half! I too am an obsessive sweeper. My current favourite is from B&M and cost a whole £2.50!! It's brilliant albeit too small for all but the most obsessive brushers. I do love witches' brooms too.

I use a corn broom, light and easy to sweep with. Not the best in the wet, but my stables are in a barn so works brilliantly for me
