Recommend me an imposing non agressive big dog please.

Already when I read the title I thought Leonberger but I then saw that Cadefan already had mentioned them. But I'm a little bit confused, as I read it, you seem to want a large type of big breed as in Mastiff type and not big and leaner type as in Scottish Deerhound or large as in GSD or Rottweilers?

Though I understand you when you say that 8 to 10 years just isn't long enough, a few years ago I seriously considered getting a Tibetan Spaniel and a main reason was that as far as I know, they had/have an average life expectancy on up to 14 to 15 years. The problem is that all of the more Mastiff type of breeds that I can recall, have a life expectancy on around 8 to 10 years and Leonberger is one of those, with an average of 9 years.

But in all other ways, I would say that Leonberger fits your bill. They're imposing, active but doesn't need a lot of exercise, they usually choose to walk away rather than become aggressive towards another dog and though they can live either in or out, as long as you don't want a to hot indoors temperature, they prefer being wherever you are.

So either I think you need to rethink the age thing or rethink the type of dog you want.

By the way, the dog club were I 2008 and 2009 attended some dog classes was owned by someone who had Rhodesian Ridgebacks (which probably had influenced the fact that most classes had an owner with a RR participating), she would not recommend that a home where the adult dog only would get 30 minutes to 1 hours walk per day, bought a RR. It is great if your dog is happy with it Littlemisslauren but except the puppies, all the adults I met got more exercise than that per day.
