The recent thread about hat cleaning, and the comments about age of riding hats and the need to replace them, has got me thinking I ought to invest in a new one.
My current hat was highest safety rating about 9 years ago  - I have had a break from riding BTW :o - and makes my head look massive.

Is there something rather more aesthetically pleasing available nowadays? please give me your recommendations and all the better if they have features like removable liners/band and ventilation.
many thanks all.

tbh i know theyre quite big but i will never part with my HS1!! was out to get one of those charles owen ones but tried both on and in comparison felt very insecure just like to feel like i will be protected. Gave my head a nasty knock last weekend my horse fell on me (reared up) and think i would have been in real trouble if i had any other hat on as ever with this i got a scratched face. Also can xc in it.

I have a Charles Owen, they are a lovely shape but I keep mine for competitions. For everyday riding I wear the Harry Hall Legend, also if I have to replace it after a fall its not that expensive

You really need to try on a few different makes to find one that best suits your head shape. I have found certain makes just don't suit me at all or give me headaches due to the shape. The only make at the moment that is very comfortable for me HS1.
