Recommend me some clippers for a cob!

I usually pay for someone to come out and clip although I have clipped him myself In the past. I'm looking for some clippers which arnt going to cost the earth... preferably under £100 that will be suitable for keeping his mane hogged and his feathers off over summer.
They will really just be used touch up rather than do a actual full clip!

get a good make second hand. cheap clippers will not manage good hogging and feathers, or are unrepairable if they go wrong. Get thee to preloved/ebay ps I bought my liscops 2nd hand 9 years ago for £50, they do circa 6 clips a year, have had one service and still going just fine.

Mine managed to get through some extremely dense fur to do a low trace on my friends fell yesterday. I have a set of lister showman clippers.

I have some old lister cattle clippers I think bought second hand.only thing that gets through the bog brush feathers. Difficult to negotiate the fetlocks though have to use a smaller lister set for those

Sorry to hijack this thread, but what small clippers does anyone use to trim feathers?
My dales needs hers off to treat mites, my clippers are too big to maneuver round her fetlocks/heels

I can tell you what NOT to get for a cob and that is the Liveryman Harmony ones, they're the cordless ones.

Wouldn't shave the bum-fluff off a baby, totally useless

It's possible to do with full size clippers. I've never found small clippers to be any good for cob feathers, they just jam up every 2secs. Clip in a downwards direction in the direction of growth instead of against hair growth. Drag the clipper blades vertically, very gently down the heels from the bottom of the pasterns, and be sure not to accidentally clip the floor or you'll break the teeth of the blades. You can get into the heels/pasterns a bit by going sideways too, again be careful of the floor when doing the heels.
