The farrier's apprentice completely ruined Cakey's hooves on Monday. They are so exceptionally short he has trouble walking around. The vet has been, he is on bute alternating with aspirin for 15 days and I am almost in tears. Poor horse!

The vet also recommended hoof boots. Can someone suggest a brand that is least likely to rub? I will need to leave them on 24/7 (or as long as possible) for a coupel of weeks until there is new growth.

I have Cavallo Simples and am very pleased with them. I've used them with and without the wraps and pads and find them super useful :)

The equine fusion are amazing. They never twist rub or come off and you can tril them at bitlessandbarefoot.com. I rid for hours each day over lots of different terrain and not once have they come off. Highly recommended!

Thank you everyone. The poor wee man is very poorly. He's had 4 days of bute and I have packaged his feet with supports while waiting for the boots but he can't walk at all. The vet is coming tomorrow. I have no idea what the farrier did, I have never seen such a severe reaction before.

Hmmm, I'd treat him as laminitic just to be on the safe side for now.

He's in anyway on hay as he can't walk well enough to go out! Maybe it's lami, we'll see what the vet says tomorrow. He had a completely weird episode two months ago which we thought was lami, it did not improve with the usual lami treatment but got immediately better with steroids which makes no sense for lami.
