My birthday is coming up and I think I want some nice smart "boot look" chaps, (prefer them to long boots). I haven't bought any for a couple of years, any recommendations? NOT ariat concorde as I've had 2 pairs and the elastic leather panel has failed on both!

I prefer Treadstep. They are tailored like boots, but the zip is to the side so not 100% boot-like.

They are more hard wearing that Ariat IMO, and entirely elastic leather, that has never failed with me.

I'd also recommend Tredstep, they're fantastic quality and as Red says very tailored. Mine are probably 11 years old now and haven't been looked after but are still perfectly serviceable. They have only been worn when it's too hot for long boots in summer for the last few years but were heavily worn for quite a few years.

+1 for Tredstep, I've had mine for 3-4 years and they're still in terrific condition after 3-5 rides a week. The Medici line (which I do not have, I have the Liberty) has the zip up the back rather than on the side.
