I'm a self confessed winter wimp. I don't like snow unless I'm skiing on it, and as soon as the temperature drops under 5 degrees I go into hibernation mode.
Someone please recommend me some winter warmers to stop me from whining about coming down with frostbite and irritating everyone including myself.
Already invested in a synthetic sheepskin lined musto coat, and ski socks for in my boots!

Thermal long johns and long sleeved tops I found to be excellent. Musto snugs for me are essential and invaluable when riding to stop chilblains.

Silk leggings and wool socks. Cashmere is the warmest. Always tuck vests into tights or leggings to avoid the gap and basically work on the theory that man made fibres are far less warm than natural fibres.

A house in Florida would do the job :D

Use your ski kit, well, apart from the boots maybe ;) I wear snow pants practically every day in winter. Works for me.

Ha! I wish, I may need to buy new ski trousers, mine are white...
A cheap pair of black or brown ones would do the trick - why didn't I think of that?!

Forget the newest top of the range winter riding jacket! I find ski coats are worth their weight in gold. Same with the ski gloves. (much cheaper too esp from TK max). I have a balaclava (£3 from market) which fits under my hat when riding to save my ears. The best pair of muck boots believe it or not a pair of sketchers, fleeced lined and very waterproof £20 (TK max again.) The boots are in their 3rd year and worn all day except when i ride. Only problem with them is they were once cream colour, but soon changed that!:D:D

*Merino wool leggings and long sleeved base layer.

*Trapper hat with a fluffy inside that also covers your ears. I have a Mountain Horse one but other makes eg Musto, Joules etc... do them too.

*These gloves are great but have more than one pair because if they do get wet they take ages to dry. http://wynnstayonline.co.uk/argon-gloves.html

*Neoprene lined boots.

Faracat can you rive in the gloves or are they more suited to yard jobs?

Anything that says "fleece lined".

Oh. Neoprene willies like muckboot and decent winter riding boot with thermal socks.

I got some Mark Todd Fleece Lined Winter Boots from a clearance sale and haven't had cold feet yet! Best buy ever.

I wear them with a really fuzzy pair of socks from primark, it's this wierd texture almost like feathers, I have some gloves made from the same stuff and it's very warm. I also wear a very baggy pair of thin old showing jodhpurs under jogging bottoms for the VERY cold days. Loose fitting layers seem to trap the heat :) I do look like a bin lady, but at least I'm snug!

I opt for thermals from primark, men's are £4. Ski trousers for yard work and muck boots then fleece lined jod boots and an exercise sheet around the horse them me for riding. I ride and do yard work in mark Todd leather gloves.

just got these for the family.....sooooo warm!

Also have some HKM winter fur lined long boots that have kept my feet warm and dry.....trick is one thin layer of socks then a thicker pair but make sure its not tight.

same with upper body, I find vest, long sleeve top, knitted/wooly jumper with small holes in worn under a thicker fleece with body warmer, thin to start off with then go up the weights works well. the knitted jumper allows the warm air to circulate.

have yet to fine the right gloves, have some seal skins but when it gets colder I cant keep hands warm.
