I have recently had ligament surgery on my ankle. Has anyone any recommendations for stirrups that will be a bit kinder on my ankle. I'm fine riding but can barely walk when I get off. Thanks

I use the Sprenger Bow Balance, and find them very comfortable for riding... doesn't help with the "after dismount" discomfort though (sadly) (currently nursing an Achilles' tendon injury)

I definitely recommend endurance ones, I've got wide tread ones for long distances, and ive also got Compositi ones which are wider tread than standard, but not so big as the endurance ones, good for schooling. Great for ankles and knees.

I found my sprenger bow balance stirrups actually weakened my ankle. I've since swapped to Acavello Opera stirrups which are lightweight, easy to get back if you lose them mid-spook and have helped put my legs in a wonderful position.

Acavallo Opera, got them on both saddles and will never use traditional ones again. Light, sit at the correct angle for the foot, easy to find and oh so comfortable.

They look good and not as hard on the pocket as some of the others. Will definitely take a look. Thanks

Jinn type stirrups. Wide tread and the only thing I found that helped my ankle that I broke 10 months ago. I tried so many stirrups and these were the only ones I found that helped, only £20 or so on eBay :)

Another vote for sprenger bow balance. I ruined my ankle years ago have used these ever since. I reckon I have had them over ten years now and they are still going strong. Definitely worth the money. :)
