As the title really, trying to work out which shavings are worth the money after trying a few. Have tried large flake, small flake and chip mixed with shavings but looking for your opinions to see if there are some I'm missing.

Oh and i know Hunters are good but having real trouble getting hold of them!

I'm looking at some dust free options , but not sure yet as can't find very many experiences I'd them : probed whih is shredded rape haulm and comfybed which is shredded shavings.
I currently use thoroughbred shavings but theyre expensive and I'm having difficulties sourcing them this year.

I've used Natural Flake for several years but the bales kept getting smaller & the price kept going up. Eventually I was let down on several occasions on badly needed deliveries & just got a series of excuses.

I haven't used Dream Bedding, I am in the Midlands & when I add the vat onto their prices they are more expensive than my local supplier of Bedmax. I buy shavings a pallet at a time.

I'm happy with Bedmax, have always been able to get them & they really suit my horses. :)

Hunters - nothing else comes close ime.

My supplier lets me know when he's getting some in and I buy as many bales as he'll let me have. Works out cheaper too :)

Interesting, thanks. It seems they are all jumping up in price and after trying cheaper alternatives I'm not impressed so maybe will go to Bedmax and see how we go. If only Hunters were reliable to get hold of.

^^ safemix is the most dry bedding I've come across :) even on my very very wet and disgusting horse, 2 bags last me more than a week. :)

Now see I think I must be fussy because I really don't like the corse shavings of the bedmax or the natural flake, I think they're harder to muck out, look dirty and aren't as comfy for the horse. I'm looking at alternatives to shavings and straw for my copd horse but not really finding any locally, I might have to buy a pallet load direct- humph maybe I am too fussy!

Hunters by far tried loads of others although they are not always easy to get here, they are only about a pound more than the other brands yet so much better I am sure it is the quality of the shaving the bed just looks so much better.

I have used megazorb which I did rate but do prefer shavings.

Hunters - about 9.95 a bale i pay. Expensive, i just found i get a lot out of one bale, i use one a week. Sometimes hard to get hold of but when there in stock i order a load. If i cant get them i use blue frog

I don't like bedmax (hard, massive chippings) or littlemax (smaller chips but still hard)and I didn't find Natural Flake anything like that-found them much softer.

I've used Natural Flake for years - and really like them because they're large and comfy for my horse, and I personally find them quite easy to muck out. I started looking for an alternative because the price of Natural Flake is rocketing!! And I've been looking into tryng Bedmax but can't find a stockist in the Midlands :( and don't really want to buy a full pallet until i'm sure it's what I want.

I love Hunters for my boy. Although they're more expensive, they're so much more absorbent that I find they last longer. He's a box walker so it helps a lot! They seem to be getting more difficult to get hold of though, so have been using Millwood's when I can't get any. They're good, just smaller bales. I like fine flakes that ate dust extracted, as find large flaked ones a pain to muck out!

Oh dear.... Bedmax not impressed with!
It's just hard finding a supplier esp when you don't want to order a massive load until you are sure it's the one for you.

Have contacted another local feed/tack shop to see what they sell.
One day i'll find the right stuff!
