Recommendation for a waterproof jacket?

I got rid of my last waxed jacket a few years ago as although they were relatively waterproof in the first few weeks of ownership (!), they were cold to wear and smelt horrible!

Have coped with a 'shower proof' jacket for a couple of years but after getting soaked to the skin at a show yesterday, I realised that I don't possess a warm, longish waterproot coat!

Can anyone recommend one, that has a bit of padding, though not too much, so I can do the jobs around the yard without boiling to death, but is actually waterproof in heavy rain? Most coats don't seem to be

Thanks

I have several Musto jackets, they look nice, keep me very warm but I have never found they keep my dry !

I bought a Gerry Schumacher jacket that is great. Absolutely no leaks even in the heaviest downpour.

I wear a Coutrywide ouwn brand thin waterproof this time of year and then add its fllece zip out liner to it in the colder months. If it is really persisting I add a pear of waterproof trousers. I think my jacket was about £40 cause it isn't a trendy colour and doesn't have a posh label.

Northface Goretex in think it's called the circadian. I have had it about 2-3 years and worn it to death and it's still never let in a drop!

Musto combination jacket or the Musto snug.

Have to say I'm pretty impressed with the Joules Eventer jacket - tend to stick to Musto all the time but have been suitably impressed. The first day I wore it it chucked it down and I was bone-dry underneath

I would recommend a Jack Murphy - light, cheap and waterproof. I have the full length one - think it is called a Malvern. Wouldn't be without it! Have had a few Toggi's in the past and had to send them back as they always leak - wouldn't buy another!
