I realise this may be like hunting for hens teeth!

However, I'd really love to find a farrier who actually also can do a proper barefoot trim!!

One of my horses does end up needing shoes at times (for whatever reason I just can't seem to get barefoot to work for him on hard ground) so I do need a farrier really rather than a trimmer...... but it drives me nuts trying to find a farrier that is reliable, can put a decent shoe on and also can do a decent barefoot trim...... I just end up watching them like a hawk when they get their knife out!!! - or getting the farrier to do a trim on the couple that are easy to keep barefoot, and a trimmer out to the more tricky ones...... or just trying to keep on top of them myself!

Oh, and it goes without saying I need one that has a good way with the horses!

Any recommendations gratefully received (pm if you prefer). Likewise if you know any to stay away from, let me know before I try them (I seem to be trying a few at the moment.....).

I am in the West Kent area, between Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone.

Thanks!!

Try Clive Meers-Rainger. Totally barefoot friendly and does a huge amount of continuing professional development both for himself and to disseminate the latest research to other farriers and interested horse-owners.

Rob Adcock and possible David East - both registered barefoot trimmers as well as farriers, both very good and very nice (including on the eye! lol)

If you look at the Facebook page, Im in their profile pic as is my old horse (who sadly isn't with us anymore). Been to ELPO lectures and they are very informative.

Clive is great though, also Tom Halpin who works closely with him- incidently Tom is good friends with Rob Adcock who was mentioned above. Clive and Tom both shoe and trim at our yard in Tunbridge Wells.

I think we're spoilt for some very good farriers round here :)

i use ashley harwood from sevenoaks area, he is an equine podiatrist, trained under k.c. lapierre and trevor jones, recommend, very conscientious
