Recommendations....electric fencing tape

Hiya,

After spending several hours last night trying to get the electric fence to work the conclusion is that the tape is rubbish, too many knots and dodgy bits! Can anyone suggest where to get good quality but not too expensive tape from...we need about 400m, 20mm wide? Is the stuff on ebay any good? Thanks.

I have permanent electric fencing and where we are can be windy. Present tape (40mm) has been up for about 5/6 years, but I am now replacing with green electric rope, bought off ebay from a company in Lancs. Am liking it a lot, and it is much easier to erect and tension

I've had very good results with the galagher stuff its not cheap however,......

I also use permenant electric fencing but with wooden posts instead of plastic, i use electric rope, which is 6mm thick and 200metres long, which i buy from an economy range for about £20!! it is really good value and I would now never go back to using tape after the success I have had from the rope, especially through the winter with strong winds!! the tension is much easier to get and doesnt get all twisted up like tape does! however i haven't used the rope with plastic posts so not sure if it would be as good with them!

I use the rope, find it better than the tape.

sorry, i won't allow the rope near a horse, it is TOO strong and won't break if one is stupid/unlucky enough to get caught up in it (and, unfortunately, there is always one...)
i use Fieldguard tape, it is absolutely brilliant, doesn't fray at all against the insulators (and I live in a very windy place, but it's been up for a few years and it as new. Worth the extra cost imho. the few times I've had a horse go through it, it hasn't marked them at all.
I try not to knot it now, Fieldguard do a 'sewing kit' of narrow wire which can be used to sew pieces of tape together, very tidy and gives a very good connection.

I get all my stuff from www.paddockperfection.co.uk they sell on ebay too. We use 40mm tape for the outside of the field and use the rope for sectioning parts of the field off and strip garzing them.
