Afternoon,

I am looking for a new riding coat. I have plenty of yard coats which are bulkier. Looking for it to be more fitted but enough room for a jumper underneath.

Wishlist:
* waterproof
* dark coloured
* slightly fitted
* long enough to cover bum - below hips
* budget -£60-£95 slightly flexible

Any thoughts?

Thank you for suggestions but I would like one that is shorter than a 3/4 length. I really like my weather beeta Kyla but would like a shorter one ( I just find some coats very short in the body)

I never normally buy proper riding waterproof coats I just make do, I don't ride in the rain that much and have bits of waterproof stuff that is not great.

This year Mr P bought me the Le mieux Esme waterproof coat for Christmas and I love it its not too heavy not felt to hot in it, I can do all my chores in it and move I hate feeling restricted in a coat, I haven't ridden in it yet but I think it will be fine when I do which will be next next week so I will let you know.

I've got a Harry Hall one, it should be in your budget. It's good, not too hot, very waterproof and on its second winter. I'm tempted by their longer one, it's in their sale....

I love my Weatherbeeta Kyla but they may be over budget.

How about this one? I had a similar Premier Equine coat in the past and it was great.

Do you think that discount equestrian is a reliable site?

I'm a total tight arse when buying stuff for myself, but a friend persuaded me to buy a HKM long coat in a sale recently, £60 down from £150 ish. It is absolutely lovely and kept me cosy on a very cold and foggy day racing recently. It is light to wear and well made. Shaped to ride with studs up the side and a robust zip, cuffs are sewn back into the sleeve so no draughts. It is too nice to ride in for me but a fab coat for cold days out.

I bought the premier equine one a few weeks ago, I absolutely Love it!!!!! best jacket I have owned. Would highly recommend. It has been much admired too.

I've just bought this one: https://harryhall.com/harry-hall-all-weather-long-jacket-ii-dark-navy

Not worn it to ride in yet but it's had a good testing out in snow and sleet walking the dogs the last few days! It's really comfy and waterproof and the reviews are good too (why I bought it!)
I had that one. Don't put anything like keys in the pockets, they aren't robust enough to take it. I also thought the pockets were at a weird angle/depth. I did love the warmth, its comfiness, the size of the hood and the storm cuffs - though those are quickly soaked through in heavy rain. Mine lasted one winter as (mostly) waterproof because I wore it to the yard all the time, including mucking out and I had to wash it to get rid of the stink and the horse slobber.
