Hi all :)

Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for a waterproof fly rug. There seems to be quite a few out there - bucas, shires, masta, weatherbeeta, pessoa, premier equine ... But would like to hear reviews before I make my choice!

I like my Shires, the design allows a lot of mesh, but if it rains the design also swoops the water off him so if it is just a shower he is properly dry. :-)

I have Shires and Gallop ones, they're both have the same design, but you can feel the difference in quality of the material used. having said that I don't own any rug wreckers so both makes look new and have kept the ponies dry in the worst downpours... Biggest difference between them is price, Gallop is half the price....

I have the Shires ones, my mare stayed nice and dry and it was well tested - we had 3 days of rain 70mm, 55mm and 65mm no problems, plus she doesn't overheat and we are still sitting around the 20's in the sun

As a side, I bought a Gallop no fill rain sheet with neck cover for my cob, and it is fab rug. It is so light he doesn't even know he has got it on, and great for when the midges come out in the evening.

It is still waterproof going into its second summer, and would highly recommend (unless you have a rug trasher)!

I have the Pessoa one really like it fits well. It doesnt stand up to torrential rain but perfect for showery weather when the flys are out.

Just to throw another in the mix, I have a Swish rug which I really like, don't know what the others are like, it's reasonable price and good fit, not for huge amounts of rain but keeps flys off and dries very fast
