Hi,

Can anybody help? I'm looking for some help with my young horse. He's big and very green and can be a bit spooky and lazy, although with a strong confident rider he is better. I'm losing my confidence with him and need help with this and my basic riding as well as general direction. I'd like an all round instructor and if possible, one who is willing to jump on to demonstrate as I'm quite a visual person.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

SW Surrey is still a fair sized place - but Steve Banting in Claygate? Maria Windsor based more Ham house / Kingston Way? Tony Whipps is great - not sure where he is based, probably Guildford direction, but he will travel. If you can get him my personal recommendation would be Tony - but both Steve and Maria are also very good. PM me if you need phone numbers etc.

Debbie Moore is a brilliant teacher, she will ride your horse for you but she also explains things really clearly. She did wonders for us, spent years getting nowhere until we had Debbie as an instructor.

She has a website if you type in Debbie Moore Dressage. Obviously more focused on flatwork than jumping but I would really recommend giving her a go.

Emily Taggart from Emily Taggart eventing in Reigate. Does a lot with producing on young, green and sometimes quirky horses. Good all rounder and very patient. Happy to get on and show you as well. Competes affiliated at DR, SJ and obviously BE so out doing it.

Chucked my opiniated pain in the a**e green horse at her for bootcamp and she worked wonders. She is also very quiet with the horses as well and measured as well as being highly supportive. Another benefit if you are near her is she is out a lot with her young horses so I try to tag along when I can as well. My own horse is also big and spooky albeit a nice person. You would have to go some to match one of her horses who is a 17.3 WB 4 year old (in terms of spookiness! )

Tony lives in Betchworth and keeps his horse in Headley area. He is fab!
