I just can't seem to find a bridle to fit my youngster. A full size fits across the noseband and browband, the cheek pieces are verging on too long, but the throatlatch always strangles him.

He has a pony proportioned head in a large-horse size :/

Any ideas?

Yeah definitely mix and match, but invest in a hole punch too. If you can get the usually too short pieces long enough, just punch a few extra holes in the bits that are too long!

My bridle has adjustable throat lash on both sides, it fits all manner of horses from cobs to massive hunter types. It's an amerigo but there are plenty of others with the same feature I think. Other thank that I would say hole punch??

I have one of the newer john whitaker ones with a blingy browband (sorry not sure of model!) and that is adjustable on both sides, so is as big or as little as you like :)

I have a bridle where the head piece is separate from the throat latch and the browband has two slots each side. The throat latch on that one is actually the neck strap from a martingale, with the stitching for the little loop unpicked. Stubben make similar bridles.
