It looks like i'm going to need different bit and noseband for XC than dressage so rather than trying to swap everything between phases makes sense to have separate dressage and jumping bridles.

So what make should I get? Will be used for BE and BD, perfect would be:

full size dressage bridle
thick/padded cavesson noseband (everything i've looked at has a flash!)
comfort type headpiece
dont mind bit of bling on browband but not OTT
rubber grip reins
plain black (no white padding etc)
good quality
max £150

to suit chunkier head :p

Thanks

Have you looked at Jeffries?

I've just got one very similar to this one:

Excellent quality. I know they are £180 on 'tinterweb but keep an eye on ebay because they do pop up cheaper on there.

Also do a search on ebay for 'black bridle' and see what comes up, you will have to do a bit of sifting and reading through adverts to find a good make but there are bargains to be had!!

I love my Schockemohle Sport ‘Paris’ .. Came in at under £150 for the bridle and reins.

http://www.hayleysblog.co.uk/2011/05/bridles-review/ Suits my connie as well, shes not got a 'fine' head so would suit a chunkier type too.

The browband is VERY sparkly! http://schockemoehle-sports.com/en/node/229

I got it from Hope Valley Saddlery.

Thanks - would prefer without flash as currently have one with loop hanging down and if buying from new would prefer it not to. did however find this on the schokemohle website which i quite like :D

what do people think? would it be too much on pony in my siggy? (if you click on horse pic on right hand side get better idea how it sits) would just use it with snaffle rather than as double. have found online for 219 euro so will have to work that out in £s....

Hadnt thought of Jeffries but they look very nice :D off to check ebay, thanks :)

Evison Equine! You can get any noseband you like on them and they are only £65! They are the same style as Jeffries IR or Albion KB bridles, so curved away from the ears and padded.
They also do a patent one is you want to be a real diva ;) I love mine :D

https://www.stubbendirect.co.uk/stubben-3000-bridle-p-226.html Most of the stuebben bridles offer a choice of noseband.

Thanks - have stubben jump bridle at mo and love it but cavesson noseband without flash is quite skinny for big headed pony!

D'oh why didnt i think of this  saw their stall at BE event and very impressed with design and prices. thanks for reminder, a bit of shopping I think :D not sure if we can pull of patent though, might just make the grey pony look grubby in comparison :p

I have this bridle - not too expensive but looks lovely on. It comes in three different weights (I have the finest one for my pb arab to show in). It comes without reins tho, but still well within budget to get the reins you want.

English leather, padded noseband and headpiece, no bling, I can highly recommend Morgan Equine. they do one which comes with rubber reins for £99!

Great value and quality and look very smart.
