Please can you recommend me some good dealers who have a policy that they will change the horse if it is not suitable and who also do a part exchange.

I am looking for a 3/4TB with either ID or CB in it around 6 years of age about 16hh - 16.2 no bigger, that has done a bit of BD but must move well enough for affilliated dressage. Must hack out on its own and with others and have good temperment and stable manners, load and travel well and all the usual things. Mare or gelding.

I am still trying to sell my mare so that is why I am asking for part exchange. Kent, Surrey, Sussex Hampshire Cambridge, Berkshire areas. We are in Kent but will travel.

There are a dealers near me in Bedford called Dale Sports Horses, i've heard nothing but good things about them. Not sure what their policy is but maybe worth a try. They have a page on facebook if you can access that.

Good Dealer - Oxymoron! Look privately - if you are a serious buyer, have a good vetting and test the horse thoroughly, why on earth would you need to return it?? its not an ill fitting cardi ;)

Highly recommend Clip Clop Traders in East Sussex, but i don't think she would part ex (why can't you sell her privately?). I bought my girl from her and she gave me a 28 day waranty. Not that I needed it she described my girl so accurately :)

I actually gave up looking privately because I found people over priced their horses massively and they were not as described. BUT, you have to find a good dealer!

Thanks for this recommendation Peanutsmumma.

To Winklepoker, I would look privately but I need to sell my mare and have had her advertised for a while now and only had one crank call.

Southgate Farm, West Sussex.
Worth giving them a ring, even if there isn't anything suited to you on the website, as they have new horses in frequently.

There are plenty of good dealers out there, it's the bad ones that get all the headlines. It is not in the interest of any good dealer to sell someone an unsuitable horse. They get bad publicity, no return business etc & that greatly affects their livelihood & they don't want that. The buyers also have much more protection in law when they buy from a dealer. Beware of 'dealers' selling a horse on behalf of someone as your buyers protection is not the same.

Buying from a private seller can be frought with danger. many 'private' sellers are desperate to sell their horse & will stretch the truth to ensure the sale & you won't have the recourse you would have if they were a dealer. Also many 'private sellers' are less than honest dealers in disguise.

I & several friends have bought from dealers & have been extremely happy with the horses. They were as described & in many cases better.

Don't colour all dealers the same, many are great people, making a living & having many satisfied clients.
