Hi Guys it is a while since I did rider wear shopping and I would like recommendations as follows:

A good comfortable Riding Hat for Hacking schooling a bit of jumping.

Leather Riding boots that give good ankle support that I can ride in everyday.

A back protector for everyday wear that is not too clumpy.

You need to get your hat and body protector fitted, as what 'I' like may not suit you! I normally use one of the Charles Owen skulls though am saving for a gatehouse hs1, the Champion hats just don't fit me. As regards body protectors, I will only wear Racesafe but Kanteq are highly recommended by a lot of my friends. It's worth going along to a decent saddlery to try on a range of hats and bps if you can.

As regards everyday boots, I usually wear half chaps or gaiters with short boots instead :)

Hats, I would go to your local place. Say your price and what u want then make sure it is fitted well.

Boots, I don't have experience but I want ariats as always good.

Back protector, u want the racesafe protector, they are great and comfy to wear.

Thanks guys I will be getting fitted but just want a bit of feedback on brands as I am out of date. Wouldnt dream of buying online and hoping its ok dont worry.

Boots as I said Must have ankle support as I have a very weak ankle.

For me - Charles Owen hats, racesafe BP, ariat everyday boots and Brogini smart boots

I am a complete ariat convert - I used to say "there's no way I'm spending that much money on boots!!" - but I'm glad I did! I have several different pairs now, and love all of them :)

Interesting thread as I've yet to sort out boots... I've bought some short riding boots but they're not high enough in the instep to get into the things comfortably...

I do need to check out the body protector options too... Is there a particular range suitable for quite busty ladies?

ive got a very very big bust but a small waist (in comparison!), and ive got the airowear outlyne bp. they are great as u can get the size 2 fit bust and then pull in the waist as much as u need. they do lots of back lengths as well :D

The most comfortable body protector I have ever worn is a RaceSafe one. Wouldn't have anything else now. They are very well made and I can actually breathe properly in it and don't feel restricted. Happy shopping.

Do they 'fit' around the bust so they still fit fairly close to the ribs/waist or hang off them and pull in at the waist? I believe Robinsons stock Outlyne and I have one fairly close... An exploration trip might be in order... :)
