Am just testing the water here, I am applying for a job in Kintbury, near Hungerford and was just wondering what the livery yards are like out that way. I know I'm not going to get the good deal I'm on now (15 p/w DIY) but wondered what the yards are like, it'd be DIY or part at a push! Thankies in advance.

Hi, I really recommend Southill Stables, Aldbourne. Sarah West is hugely experienced, the yard runs like clockwork and is really friendly. She didn't do DIY when I was there, but does part livery. Not sure of prices now, as it was a few years ago... there is a website, so you could check there.

Outdoor school, with floodlights. Fantastic turnout in immaculate condition. Hacking is superb - right on the edge of the downs. And some great pubs in the village

Not sure if it might be a bit far but I'm at a livery yard in Highclere by Newbury. £25pw including a field, 14 x 14 stables with private tack rooms, 40 x 60m school (no floodlights though), massive round pen, lots of jumps (especially as my new ones are coming soon), with really good hacking.
We get cheap passes for highclere park in summer which means no roadwork and a xc course. And they can stay out 24/7 if you want.
