I currently have horse insured with NFU and am looking at insuring another horse - but he's 20. He currently isnt insured so I need to find a company who will consider insuring older horses. I'd quite like to stick with NFU as but just thought I'd shop about for older horse insurance. Can anyone recommend any other good companies?

Thanks in advance.

I'd stick with the NFU, they aren't cheap and my insurance rocketed this year, but my 34 yr old has just had an accident and had to be PTS as an emergency - that is all covered on my insurance. If he could have been treated, I could have claimed for that too. For veterans it only covers accidents though.

The NFU has always been excellent to deal with, lovely people on the end of the phone.

I had a horse insured with Petplan - most speak very highly of them, but for me it wasn't a good experience. They took ages and nothing seemed automatic I had to keep chasing, whereas NFU sorted everthing and settled in less than a month.
