So our trusty 04 Ford Ranger truck failed its MOT on Monday with corrosion on the chassis so we’ve decided to call it a day🙈 We’ve had it since new and it’s been absolutely brilliant and never let us down! Even shipped it to the States when we lived there for 2 years. So we need a new truck! It’s probably between the Ranger, the Toyota Hilux and the Isuzu D Max. Will be buying new and keeping for the next 19 years😂😂 Any recommendations would be very much appreciated! Thank you😊

I have a friend who has just spent a small Gittins on a Ford ranger. Didn’t have it six months and it needed a new gear box. Something to do with a ten speed box apparently. He may have just been unlucky.

I'm on my second L200, this one is 2018 Barbarian automatic . I find it very comfortable as well as rugged, and both have been reliable with no sign of rot or other issues. Seriously enjoying the luxury of automatic. Downside - cab storage isn't particularly good, but I have the double cab so have storage on the back seat.

Another vote for ssangyong musso
Hubby drives car transporters and he was surprised to see how much these have come on.
We had rangers but after the last one we wouldn't recommend. It was 18 months old and the sump corroded. They said it wasn't covered under the guarantee and it cost a fortune.
Again massive company shafting their customers.

We went on a truck mission today! Loved the Isuzu DMax and just up road from us and sale’s lady was super helpful and nice! Then went to Ford but they had no sale’s people there, lady wasn’t very helpful and could give us no information! Then went to Toyota and sale’s guy was great! Loved the Hilux but it’s 4k more expensive than the Isuzu🙈 So looks like we are going for the Isuzu DMax 40! Thank you everyone for all the advice 😍

I have an 18 plate Navara and it's amazing, tows effortlessly plus it had the best mpg of the pickups I was looking at - it's my daily driver commuting car so was a must!

I have just been chatting to the electric distribution board people who check the pylons. They have 22 plate Ford Ranger and a new 23 plate Isuzu, they find the Isuzu underpowered for certain stuff and they said it was quite thirsty. They drive them over all sorts of terrain and carry mountains of stuff.

I have a Navara 18 plate but that is no longer available over here and a friend has a Toyota Hilux which is a replacement for a L200 ( also no longer available).

I prefer the Navajo becauuse of the ride and towing is smooth but she really rates the Hilux.

Depending on budget there is also the new Vw?

I have a hilux and its been no bother.
We used to have the old old one (like the one they dropped off a building on top gear) and it was awful but reliable and sold for more than we bought it for.

Cannot go wrong with a hilux, they go forever and are very reliable.

What sort of MPG do you get? Thinking of a Hilux.. but the yard is 15 mins and assuming I’d have to get use to mid 20s
