Looking into getting a hi-viz waistcoat for the occasional hacking etc.

Pref not too expensive, and if possible I'd like to get it before 9th october.

Any recommendations?

I have this one T_G, it's pink and fits really nicley. You've got to have a pink one!!!

I paid about £13 for it I think, have a look on eBay, there's usually loads on there. Just be careful if you want a pink one that it conforms to the BS EN1150 standard as I've had cheaper pink ones in the past that weren't as bright as their yellow counterparts, but this one shows up very well!
BTW, steer clear of ones with "young horse" or "horse in training" on them as I've heard that sometimes insurance companies are a bit funny paying out if you have an accident, it's a bit like you're saying you know you're going to have problems because it a young horse! Daft I know, but there you go! Mine says "Please pass wide and slowly, thank you".

TBH mine came from Tescos at a cost of about £3 - just a bog standard hi viz vest with velcro to hold it shut at the front. Does the job though!

Of course if you get the £3 option you then have more cash to spend on other hi viz things - I have a hat band and I will get some glove cover things at some point as well:D

A bit more expensive, but shires SSL do a reversible gilet.
It's dark navy blue that you can wear from day to day, but then reverses to reveal a particularly bright hi vis yellow.

Would mean you never forget it ;)
It's about £30 which is expensive for hi viz, but not if you think how often you could wear it as another jacket.

I want one, but haven't had the money to get one! So I don't know how well it washes etc

I have the Lunar Rider one. Its great, has zip pockets and is very visible. A bit thicker than your usual ones and mine cost £19.99.

I have the Shires reversible gilet - it is brilliant! And washes very well, doesn't fall apart, I must have had it well over a year and it's still got the same shape and condition.

Would highly recommend. And I got mine for about £25, but can't remember where from. Sorry!

hi

Equisafety have brought a new tabard out that looks like a police tabbard but says polite (rather than police) - please see link:

http://www.equisafety.com/cat/catitem.asp?pc=R02N-AIRPO&d=1&s=1

It is more expensive but if it helps to slow drivers down then it would be worth it! I am looking to get one when i have a bit of spare cash (to replace what I have now).....

(btw I dont work for equisafety just think this is a good idea! :))

sorry I didnt realise that someone has already posted with the same link as mine already..doh!:o:o

I just have a cheapo one from aldi because I don't hack much. I also have a hat band which I added to an order of other stuff from robinsons, it was less than £5 and because I was buying other stuff I didn't have to pay the postage.

If I was hacking regularly I'd buy more but for occasional use what I have is fine.

If you don't have bags of hi viz suppliment it by wearing bright/light colours. It surprises me how much difference it makes when you see cyclists or pedestrians in light coloured clothing in the evening.

You can normally get cheap hi viz in non-horsey places. Check out anywhere that sells car/caravan stuff, outdoor wear, etc. Also try the army stores or yeomans or your local eqivalent.
