recently had saddler say pony needs a rear raiser prolite so her saddle fits better though someone told me long term that can hurt her withers...he could have made the tree wider but it will just cause problems when she's slimmer.
so basically pony has gotten fatter saddle is now too narrow. also, my bottom is too big for it so pushes it down at the back.

just wondered what your advice would be about-
should i ride her without a saddle until she is very slim again and try the saddle see if it fits
just ride her bareback (she can't take a bigger saddle length/size)
get a treeless saddle when i can afford one

as a side note-am currently losing three stone. this should make my bum smaller in the saddle and reduce the weight in it so that it fits better.

putting a riser in just a cheap option like putting a plaster on if your shoes rub

can you get another saddle??? what about a wintec or such you can alter as and when horses poggies up in summer.

after going through 3 years of bad saddlers one saying they made saddle for my boy my nearly loosing my life ( horse bronc me off on to ) i would say get a saddle that actually fits

ask saddles direct

take pictures of his back on both sides
then from the back showing his back
then put saddle on the one he has

take pictures same again this time with saddle on

take a template of his with area with a bendy ruler or wire coat hanger and send it to saddles direct they are soooooooooooooooooooooo helpful sorted me out she knew what make would fit him and sure enough you have saddles on trial so u can try a few till u find one which fits

If you use a riser pad it will actually make the fit of the saddle narrower and it will make it fit lower at the withers too, and it could pinch, a riser pad wil completely alter the balance of the saddle. If your horse has gone wider, a wider fit saddle would be the best option as then if the horse goes narrower in the future then a pad could maybe be used but a good saddler would be the best person to advise you as they will have seen your horse. Imho I'd maybe seek a second opinion and get another saddler out, try the SMS website: http://www.mastersaddlers.co.uk/

Good luck though, hope you can get it sorted.

yes rode her in the rear rise pad today and she was sweaty except all around her withers which were dry so wont be riding in that again as that will cause her big issues.
cant afford a new saddle yet but will be lunging her and riding her bareback until i can get her this:

or i'm going to get her slim again and see if it then fits again
