I am looking into bridles as I am hoping to get one for my horse , however with there being such a choice on the market I thought I'd do a little research into what bridles people are using, and reviews. I have heard a lot about the Micklem Competition Bridle, anyone have one of these? Comfort for my horse is the main priority. Any answers are extremely helpful :)

I bought a Micklem yesterday and am so far very impressed with the way my extremely sensitive horse has responded to it, still early days but he is taking a more consistent contact and seems happier generally, expensive but could well be a worthwhile investment.

I use a Barefoot Syringa - it's a bitless 'sidepull' bridle, he was never happy with a bit despite teeth being fine, so I thought if he doesn't need one, why should he wear one!

The Micklem doesn't suit every horse. A friend had one and tried it on my horse for me and she said he hated it. He was unhappy and tense in it and she could not get him to soften. She took it off and he was fine again in his own bridle. If you can, try one on him before buying it.

I have a Jaguar, I picked it for it's curved padded headpiece and because you could remove the flash and the loop, I really don't like the loop on a canvass on when you don't need it. Happy with it, didn't notice much difference in the horse but then we didn't have a problem to start with.

Me too.
I like it because it comes with 2 sizes of side piece and 3 ways to have noseband. Nice leather too.

Cheapo plain bridle off eBay for every day use as my boy has a habit of chewing them given the chance!! He's a highland so looks best in a plain hunter style, flat cavesson nose band and brow band. Nothing fancy at all. For "best" he has the same but better quality (second hand off eBay as well .... ).

Evison Equine comfort bridle, nicely padded and shaped headpiece, decent quality and they will mix and match sizes (I need a cib size bridle with a full browband)

I looked at these before going for the Micklem but the website is not great, it is hard to see any detail or have any real idea of the style so even though they are often recommended I wouldn't have bought one without being able to actually see a decent picture first, maybe they need to update the website as I cannot be the only person to move on and buy elsewhere.
