My stirrups really rub my legs when I'm having a lesson, so my instructor has suggested getting some half chaps. I don't want to spend more than about £20 on them (I don't ride often enough to make it worth getting expensive ones), and I've also been recommended Shires as the best but I'm completely stumped about what to go for (also not sure where to get them from).

What do you all wear?

Also, how can I get rid of the rub marks on my legs???

they don't have them in all the time, so you will have to wait for "horsey week", but I buy mine from Aldi - they are £8 a pair. I ride between 4 and six times a week, and mine last around 2-3 years and I think are just as good as anything you will go out and pay £40 - £50 for!

Look on ebay.
I had a brand new pair of Loveson ones on for £20 which didn't sell. They are XL in brown equileather (ie leather look but synthetic) I'll relist them again soon.

You could try equestrianclearance.com or search through the horsey websites for some? Try some on in your local saddlers to see what size you think you'll need first?

I always go for ariats - lovely and comfy.

However, if you're on a budget then my daughter swears by the new Bridleway ones about £20.00

I love my Ariats, but they are expensive. My OH doesn't ride as often (his horse has an easy life) or as seriously, so we always get Loveson suede half chaps for him - they do loads of sizes.
