This seemed a strange choice of dog to work cattle, to me, when many farmers around here seem to be using Australian cattle dog lines to work sheep because they like how mentally strong they are. I hope the dog is mentally up for herding cattle, or that she has been bought by a cattle farmer who actually wants her to work sheep like she is bred for.

But what an amazing price the owner got, well done her!

I saw that.... nope I’d want my dog to be solid gold for that price ?

I think I’m too wedded to rescues now lol, I idly looked at Gumtree the other day for a JRT puppy and they wanted £500!!! No way....

I'd love to see a heeler working sheep, not something I have seen over here at all. It does take a strong dog to work cattle so I hope she is up to the task. As the buyer was prepared to spend that amount of money, plus the cost to ship her over, I am guessing she must also have worked cattle or shown at least a propensity for the work.

Is it a bloodlines thing too or just skill based?

That would probably depend on who you speak to ;) The farmers/shepherds who just want a dog for work (rather than trialling for example) are much more interested in looking at the dog in front of them. Bloodlines are important but what an individual dog is doing would be the difference between dipping deeper into the pocket. Triallers, generally speaking, tend to be as interested in the lines behind the dog and how many champions are in the pedigree as watching what the dog on the field is doing.

I think, not quite sure, that the ones I'm seeing working sheep are crossed with BCs. Would that make sense?

Not sure about heelers, might be huntaways or kelpies , but still don't see many of them or their crosses up here. What makes you think they aren't just border collies?
