Morning,

We have three ton bags of hayledge wrap and small hayledge/feed bags. We were going to hire a skip to dispose of but it there a recycling scheme or anything anyone knows of as seems a shame to send to landfill?

Many thanks

Elle

There are places who will take it to recycle, I looked/googled last year, the nearest one to us was about 40 miles away so i hired a skip instead
I have put feed bags into the "recycle at supermarkets" waste

Solway Recycling. Based in Scotland but collect from a wide area so would be worth contacting them.

I was going to say try Solway too as they are countrywide and the only people I know who recycle farm waste. I have one of their chicken arcs which is made from all recycled plastic and it’s great.

Just thought I'd update for anyone wanting to recycle wrap and bags. Solway passed my details on to a local recycling centre who emailed me details pretty quickly. They could either pick the bags up, at £40 per bag (tonne bags but not weighing anywhere near that) or I could drop them in to them at £20 a bag.

I took them in yesterday as lorry was weighed on way in and out and have received invoice today. Less than £45 inc vat for a year's worth of haylage wrap and 6 of their small liner bags to put this year's in. And v pleased as not only is it getting recycled, but the bags and wrap would have about half filled a skip which would have been around £300.

It was also handy to get lorry weighed for free, it came with weight certificate but that was with v little diesel and no random stuff in lorry so nice to see what 1/4 tank of diesel, full ad blue and all my random junk weighs 😁 (about 60kgs if anyone interested 😊)

Good result. My green wheelie bin takes plastic so put all mine in there. As my 3 are out over summer with no haylage I carry on filling up the green bin with my winter waste.

Now to find out where I can recycle baler twine.......

The place I took my bags takes bailer twine too, and the wrap net you get in round bales of hay 😁
