Had a fall. SO following best practice have been and bought myself a new hat. OBVIOUSLY can't sell on but seems a shame to totally bin it and add to landfill problems.Would like to recycle.Anyone know how? I can't be the only one with this dilema.

I know what you mean, total dilemna. Same problem with baby car seats that your child has outgrown, cost over £100 and you know have never been in a crash.... and yet you cannot pass them on and have to take them to the tip

I kept my last riding hat for the kids dressing up box.

have some fun. see what it takes to break it, hit it with a hammer, roll over it with your car, then pop it into household waste in your recycling centre. they are made of plastic and polystyrene i think. I heard advice once about cutting the harness off to make sure no one picks it up and it appears on ebay later on!.

I think manufacturers ought to run a scheme where you can send back a hat that has been in a fall, and they send you a voucher for money off a new one. It would encourage people to replace their hats, and the damaged hats could be safely disposed of (instead of re-sold on ebay) or recycled in some way.
