I have a friend who is a pilot in the USAF - he attitude is flying fighter jets is dangerous. People die and it could be you. If you are not OK with become an accountant. This guy is a bit of a nutter - in both gulf wars his unit was anti tank, basically 500 feet off the ground supporting ground troops who had engaged the enemy.
He smashed thru his cockpit roof which didnt come off, then his parachute didnt open. He would've been ejected at approx 500mph. He didnt stand a chance.
He was a good friend of my husband's and I knew him as well. A really nice guy - this is so tragic. Jets using the same type of ejection seat have been grounded while the investigation is underway. Clearly something wrong somewhere, this should not have happened. It's devastating and my thoughts are with all connected. He was a very popular and well liked guy.
