Red Horse Field Paste not staying on

Had really high hopes for this but the paste is just not lasting for more than 24 hours so I'm having to constantly reapply and for £17 for a small tub I can't afford to go through a tub every 2 weeks. Anyone else had this issue?

Are you applying it to a clean dry hoof and then letting it set on concrete/mats before turning out?

Yep, it's not got great staying power but can usually smell it the next day, maybe it soaks in?
Heard the arti-mud stays put longer but not tried it.

Yep clean and dry, applying on concrete yard then giving it 20 mins before turn out again. I can smell and see bits still in the deepest parts of the clefts but then as dirt and stones have got in I have to redo. It looks to be doing the job though, has dried them out and can't smell anything bad anymore.

I am sure you only need to apply once a week, will check my tub tonight.

I find it a fab product.

Red Horse products are really good especially the honey heal stuff. Friend swears by them although they are quite expensive. Maybe you could give the company a call to see what they suggest?

I found the same problem. The tub didn't last long and it was too expensive to use as it needed reapplying so often. The products are nice but no more effective than more traditional methods with a lower price tag. If it was less than a fiver, I'd probably use the field paste again.

What I understood from the tub was that once a week was preventative but if there is active thrush then it needs to be used more often.
We have used it daily on all 4 hooves since December on one very thrushy horse and have only gone through 3 pots so still think its great value for money.

I haven't tried this before do you reccomend it though, i have just got the Kevin Bacon treatment, only applied first yesterday so yet to see how it clears it up. My horse has such deep clefts!

Update - well it's done the job and got rid of the persistent thrush within days, which is only ever mild but with her deep clefts it clings on and flares up in the wet. So, I have just been using a dab in the clefts and cracks every few days. I also use the Kevin bacon hoof dressing but I don't know how effective it is as a thrush treatment, I've heard it can be a good preventative though. I will carry on using both but sparingly!
