Red on a chestnut horse???

My chestnut has red rugs! They only get muddy so I'm not bothered if they colour co-ordinate :) he has a red lorry too!!!! I don't use red saddle cloths etc thou.

Mine has a bright red headcollar/leadrope and feed bowl - they look very smart alongside him and it doesn't clash at all.

I think you should embrace the clashy clashy, its the new matchy matchy! I think darker red on less orange ones looks nice, but then I don't like to abide by colour rules on my own clothes if I think it looks good so horsey will have to put up with it when he or she arrives!

Iv got a chestnut and a liver chestnut and they both wear red rugs and look ok. I wouldn't get them anything other in red though, numnahs etc as under tack don't think it looks right. I tend to stick with green and gold on one, blue on the other and white on both.

I didn't get on with the horse unfortunately so its not a problem anymore. At the moment riding a spottie and although its busy with all the red and all the spots, i think she suits it :D My next horse i will be buying so it will be some shade of grey so i shall be fine :D

i quite like yellow aswell on a chestnut. My old pony had all red stuff and looked fine on him. But yellow definatly suited better IMHO.

Oh dear, the horse I have just set my heart on is ginge and I have red and balck XC colours, red string vest (as already seen on thread), red fleece, red tail bandage! Clashy clashy it is!

My horse is called Red (well, its her stable name) and I worried about putting her in red (shes properly orange!!) but the only coloured browband I had in my tack mishmash is red... it doesnt look too bad at all - though wether thats because its also got the black and turquoise as well i dont know....

so i guess it just depends what shade of chestnut your horse is, and how red the red is?

Does it matter? Horses can't see red - it looks green to them so your horse will think he looks great! My chestnut wears a range of colours including red and he's a real ginge!
I am probably the least matchy matchy person ever - there are so many more important things in life in my opinion.... drives my daughter mad as she's a matchy matchy princess.
I don't even think about colour - just put on what's clean and dry and buy whatever colour is cheapest although think neon pink cooler rug on my friesian was possibly a step too far....but only cost a fiver as nobody else wanted it.

Flame... We established a long time on here that youre nuts.

Op go green :D it looks lovely, eBay your red stuff and get some nice bottle green stuff
