Red Wolf? WTF?

A mate has temporarily housed a GSD/husky mix. The third (?) owner he's had claims he was £3000 as a pup and that it's a 'breed' known as a red wolf :rolleyes: He has one blue eye and howls, but has excellent recall (for now!)

He is apparently huge, his head is up to her waist so about 3'6!

Has anyone heard of this cross being called this? This is the second cross of this type I've come across. Hope it's not the latest designer cross :(

And the breaker's next to the yard was raided this afternoon. They were apparently breeding 'dangerous dogs' (I saw some staffie types there once, they did bark lots, but never been a bother). However, several people at the yard say they saw a white wolf looking at them in the field! Yikes!
 
My Salem is Utonagan x Inuit (so a husky/malamute/GSD mongrel) is 33 inches at the wither and he is classed as 'Timberwolf Red' as his colouring.

I know some breeders formally associated with the Utonagan societies have branched off to breed 'Wolf Like Dogs' in order to be more flexible with what they breed.

Could be something like this?

But never heard of any of these mixes costing £3000

And before anyone starts kicking off and calling me a moron....after always having rescues...I wanted a puppy. I got the puppy I wanted and I'm very happy with him.
But (if I ever get another dog) it is rescues all the way for the rest of my days;)
 
The blue eye makes him sound like an Inuit as the Utonagan people didn't like blue eyes, but the Inuit people did :p
 
Northern inuits look very wolf like & sometimes mistaken as wolves. Except they are much bigger & heavier than the average wolf. Saying that, some numpty years ago had a husky/greyhound that did actually look like a wolf that they were selling for a ridiculous sum as an real one.

*Like* My friend knows what huskies look like, but no other 'wolf' dogs. I will tell her to get googling.

What is CsV? Czech something? Czech wolf dog? It comes up as a x with a Sarloos and Inuit or Utongan a lot on the breed sites.

'Wolfy' dogs are the next big thing, the husky rescues are overrun. Never heard of them being described as a red wolf but nothing would surprise me.

Dax E. Dog cost £850 as an eight week old pup, less than five months later she was flogged in the freeads for £100, purchase price means nothing when you're dealing with an ASBO wolf. :p

Googling probably won't help you much either, I've never seen two alike, even at the Northern Inuit Society breed show. :p
 
I just mean to educate herself a bit if she keeps him. Doubt he's a husky x at that size. :confused: She has a GSD (spayed!) and she's worried that the new one appears quite dominant but not aggressive.
 
CvD is Czech wolf dog.

Those breeders that have broken away from the Utonagan groups are introducing more Czech Wolf Dog and Sarloos into their breeding programmes in order to get a more wolfy looking mix.

Salem is often mistaken for a wolf.

There are so many variations on the theme now, the original aim was to 'improve' on and enhance attributes of the original foundation breeds, even though despite having pointy ears and bushy tails and double coats, have little similarity in terms of character and utility.
When the worst traits of those individual breeds come out together (which is what happens when the less responsible don't care about whether a breeding pair complement each other, just throw two unknown dogs together for cash), you have a recipe for disaster.
