Does anyone know if the high tide at the majuba rd end of Redcar comes completely the beach or how much time after low tide is acceptable to ride it?
Trying to plan some winter fitness work :)

Its a few years since I've ridden there and I'm trying to remember! Is Majuba Road the car park end? If so you can still ride along the beach at high tide AFAIK and you can def ride on the dunes and the bridleway.

This should show the high tide line:

If it doesnt, then its bing maps and select ordnance survey from the drop down and it will show you.

Yes you can go any time, but it depends what you want to do. If you want to do galloping work then I'd go at low tide, but if your happy to ride along and go up into the dunes etc then its always fine :)

I went at high tide last time i went. It wasnt ideal but still possible to get a good gallop! Much better at low tide though :)

Didn't realise there were so many people round this way on here!

No problem :) I have many happy memories of riding on that beach and now I am about as landlocked as its possible to be and I miss the beach! :(

Hey me too!! Grew up in Billingham. Used to ride there and up near Hart Station most days. Really miss the beach. Now bizarrely in land locked Northants as well. Near Towcester. Small world!

Ahh memories I'm originally from Hartlepool and did most of my riding on the beach from hart station up to crimdon deane and down to west view or seaton. I to miss riding on the beach as now near Lincoln. Our northeast beaches a great . My nearest is now cleethorpes never ridden there but plenty do and it looks great. My parents are still in hart station. Never been on Redcar but if it's anything like hart it will be fab .

Ha I remember that I loved riding in the dene my pony at the time used to go up all the steps . I used to go through the tunnel then cross the golf course . I had to whip her saddle off quick cos she liked to roll in the soft dunes. Sometimes the tide would leave deep enough pools for pony to swim . I've not been down there for 30 years but seems like yesterday . Long stretches of flat sand to Gallop on too. Happy happy childhood .

We moved from stables at Wolviston (Maureen and Ian were liveries there then) to Janet Burberry at Hart Station. A gang of us used to ride in the dene, used to school on the flat bits and the steps were part of our XC course. I was 17/18. Then my parents moved to Berkeley. Apart from the main road to get to the dene and the beach it was fantastic. I've never had such good riding since. Sorry if all our reminiscing has hijacked the original post.
