Welcome 👋

There isn't really a "horse riding community", we come from a huge spectrum and have very diverse attitudes to and relationships with, horses.

Read this thread. You will find that you are in very good company on the forum being anti blood sports.

I think the fact this forum is linked to a magazine called Horse and Hound, gives a slightly misleading view of how many people are interested in hunting these days. Everyone may have an opinion (as do the general public) but I wouldn't like to say a huge proportion hunt.

Of all the livery yards I've been on in the last 15 years, I've only come across a couple of people who actually went out hunting.

Welcome @redrobot to the forum. As @ycbm says there is a really wide variety of people on here, with a whole range of opinions based on different life experiences. You will see from some of the longer threads that we like a debate, and whilst they sometimes become a little heated I think on the whole we are quite civilised 😁 There are sub-groups within the 'horse' world often dependent on the sport a rider takes part in or the type/breed of horse they own, but there is lots of cross-over between groups.

Animal welfare is a big topic on here, with recent discussions including talking about the viability and future of horse riding as a sport. There are people both anti and pro blood sports people on the forum (and some people who are undecided), but even if they disagree on that subject they will often agree on another.

And there will be those who prefer to call them field sports, rather than blood sports too 😉

Hello, welcome to the forum.

I think you'll find that "the horse riding community" is hugely diverse in it's interests and opinions. You might as well ask what "shop keepers" or "cat people" think of a particular sport.
Hunting doesn't feature anything like as much as you'd think from watching Midsummer Murders!
I've been riding in UK for over 50 years, in rural, farming communities but I have never hunted, watched a hunt or heard hunting discussed anywhere except on-line.
If you are researching for an article you may be better thinking of something more topical.
