Hi there, does anyone live in this area (or up to about 35 mins away back up A30 towards M5)?
Just wondered about costs of hay, haylage, straw, shoeing and possible livery in this area (recommendations?!) in this area. Also are there any equestrian centres (especially holding affiliated SJ / dressage). Just generally is it 'horsey'?!
Thanks.

I live in Padstow (north Cornwall)..here is my list..

Hay £3.50 a bale
Haylage £6.00 a bale
Straw £2.50 a bale
Full set of shoes (big horse) £65
Livery i cannot help you as have own place..
lots of comp places..Chyverton,Colraine,Barguse just to name a few..Yes Cornwall on a whole is quite a horsey place..

Thanks Rema, have been in one area and have so many 'contacts' / people who we have bought off for years wouldn't have a clue what to expect elsewhere!

Hay £3/3.50
Straw £2.50
Haylage £6/6.50
Livery - £20 per week (stable, field and sand school)
Shoes free as OH is a farrier ;) but his boss who covers redruth etc is £66 a set.

:)

I used to live there and am going back at the end of the year, hay was £3 a bale - shoes £60 a set, I rented land ranged from £50 pcm for 3 acres to £15 per week per horse.

Thanks all. We'd rather rent a house with land and stables etc or a yard but not sure what availability for that sort of thing is like in that area - so if anyone hears anything!! hence why I wanted some idea of costs as if necessary I'd buy hay off the field here from my usual supplier and take it with me!
Thanks
